words for everything.

the history of love - nicole krauss
i just recently decided to revisit my absolute favorite book - the history of love by nicole krauss. every time i open it up (it lives beside my bed and has for nearly 5 years) i am reminded of it's brilliance. in addition to being so moving and beyond well written, this is a book that could easily be judged by it's cover. genius - the old typewriter font, coupled with the back image that is at once blissful and somber, light and heavy, abstractly the sea or the sky. the cover design perfectly captures the essence of the novel which beautifully walks the line between love and heartbreak, old and young, life and death. it is both devastating and inspiring. a memorable read.
